The district police have increased security at the Kolar APMC market since Wednesday after an increase in theft of tomatoes due to skyrocketing prices, officials familiar with the developments said.

In the corresponding month last year, the APMC yard had received three times more arrivals but the cess collected then was far less, owing to the price stability.
