Monmouth County SPCA officials got a big surprise when they rescued an 8-foot python from a backyard with a possum still in its stomach.

A resident in Freehold had quite the surprise in his backyard. An 8-foot Burmese python was found hiding under the floor of a shed, the Monmouth County SPCA said. A local contractor removed the floorboards and animal control officer gently unwound the snake so as not to cause injury,

The rescue effort required assistance from a local contractor, who helped remove floorboards of a shed so responders could safely access the animal.
